In the early days of the internet, it was considered cutting-edge just to have a website with page or two. In a few short years, the internet has transformed into a force that is rapidly changing the way we live and work. With that explosion came new technologies, and many more are still evolving today. What worked just fine a couple of years ago is now considered stale and boring.
Connecticut Websites itself has undergone many changes since it's inception in 1996. For example, this is the sixth re-design of this website, version 6.0. (We try to update every time there is a major browser upgrade from Netscape and Microsoft). In addition, we constantly need to keep up with emerging web technologies, and become proficient in the ones we feel can best serve our clients.
The key to re-design is knowing when to freshen up a few sections here and there, and when to overhaul an entire site. We try to balance new technology with over-all accessibilty by most visitors to a site. For example, some technologies only work with Microsoft's latest version of Internet Explorer, while others only work with the latest release from Netscape. Knowing these and other limitations and capabilities are the foundations of a successful re-design.
